In January 2021 in Taiyuan, several cold waves hit, the temperature once fell to minus 18 degrees, however, Mr. Zhao, who is 81 years old, was warm at home. "In previous years, the room temperature in winter was at most 17 or 18 degrees, and I had to wear a coat at home, but since the renovation of the old district last year, the window glass has been thickened and the walls are more insulated, so the room temperature can reach at least 22 degrees, and I feel different all of a sudden, it's not cold at all at home!” Mr. Zhao gladly described the changes brought by the energy-saving transformation of the district, which is also a beautiful microcosm of the transformation of the old district of Taiyuan City to benefit many residents.

We replaced windows and balconies and added insulation for residents, completely changing the problems of cold penetration and lack of energy efficiency in the original walls. This has provided valuable experience for the renovation project of old neighborhoods nationwide. It is worth mentioning that Taiyuan City can realize an annual saving of nearly 200,000 tons of coal after the completion of the whole project, which is equivalent to nearly 100 million yuan.
